ROAD TO CONTINENTAL GLORY

 For many years, Kenya has been known in Eastern Africa as the center where talent is exported.All this has been seen with different players, plying their trades to European leagues, both topflight and the intermediate leagues with names such as Wanyama Victor, Dennis Oliech and Mac Donald Mariga.

In the late 80's, it is also indicated that Gor Mahia is the only East African club to win a continental cup then Africa Cup Winners cup which is now the CAF confederation cup.

Despite all this success, there has been a shakeup where we are in a huddle as a country that kwe have talent but no structures put in place to maintain them and compete and that is what is making us as a country, not to appear in the continental stage.

Some of our clubs tend also to struggle to reach at the group stage of the elite African club competitions.Due to this we will relay on an example of a club which is doing better in the continental stage.

Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan is among one of the many clubs which perform well in the competitions,they have been able to achieve a wud erange of successes such as ;

  • Becoming runner's up 2 times in this competitions.
  • Appearing a total of 12 times in the CAF champions league since 2004-2015.
  • Been unbeaten at Champions league home games in a span of ten years.
Inorder for them to reach at that point, here are some factors they implemented:
  • Finance - The clubs source is mainly generated from the clubs wealthy patrons and also membership of fans. This also leads to the players and staff getting paid well and on time thus attracting sponsors and investors to the club.


  •  Stability - the club is able to a qualified and able coach , who meets all the requirements as per fifa and African football's governing body terms.Apart from that, they also get good players who have had experience with the game at that stage.
  • Support from the Government - the state also comes through to assist with matters such as giving of tax breaks.
  • Continental mentality-they tend to rest their star players plying inorder to not cause fatigue.

If we do this, Our country will be much better.

  KENYA AND TANZANIA LEAGUE STRUCTURES In recent years, sports analysts and football fanatics at large have a debate, concerning which is the better league between Kenyan and Tanzanian one concerning mode of play and also structures outplayed.
